Hello, Readers!
So this last Saturday, I got to go check out the NYC Halloween Dog Costume Parade at Tompkins Square Park, and I have photos to share with you all! :D
Now normally, I'm not a fan of dressing dogs up for no reason on a regular basis. I think it's wrong to force animals into little outfits that inhibit their mobility or irritate them simply so the humans can coo over them. They're not children. That's not okay. Anything such as jackets and coats to keep them warm outside that works for them and fits their body well, though? That's a good thing in cold areas like up here! And Halloween costumes for a day or two? I can live with that. xD
And there were some adorable ones out at the park, let me tell you! Of course, I thought all the dogs were adorable, costume or no, and it was an absolute delight to be surrounded by that many wriggling dog butts and wagging tongues and happy barks for an hour or so. :D Ahhhh, I miss my dog. And being allowed to have pets. So this was a treat, for sure. :]
Here are some of my favorites from the day, but I've uploaded the entire thing to my Behance page if you'd like to look through all 78 of them. :] There are also some cute ones on Buzzfeed, if you wanna see, too-- including a Harry Potter and Snitch human/dog couple that was adorable and I didn't catch!
But here are the ones that I did catch. And such cuties they all are, too. :D

Here's a photo of the mass of humans and wriggling dogs I emerged from (gasping for air lol). This was the line to get into the area for the costume contest. I couldn't really get close enough to see much, but there was a staging area with an announcer and several people with their costumed dogs milling around in it.
Gotta be honest here-- this was my first and most likely last time going to this event because of how incredibly crowded and uncomfortable it was. I've only been in such a crowd two other times in my life where all strangers were literally standing shoulder to shoulder and hip to hip, and I was extremely uncomfortable about it. (I don't do well around large masses of people. lol) But! I will say that the dogs and their humans were fantastic-- all very patient, well behaved, and willing to pose for lots of photos. And the dogs were good, too. xD heh heh It was fun to get the photos of the pups and pet a few of them, though. And one big black lab dressed with a red Triceratops hat even jumped all over me when I was crouched down taking a photo! It licked me all over and kept jumping on me in an attempt to sit in my lap (or on my head, it was so big lol), and it seemed so happy! It was awesome. :D

And this was the only photo I could really get of the staging area (from behind lol). This was where that whole long line of people and pups were waiting to get into. It was like trying to swim against a stream of salmon in breeding season!!

This dog was definitely my favorite! Soooo sweet and so adorable!! I love how chubby she was, too. :3
[Image Description: A close-up photo of a sandy-colored Frenchie dressed in black and orange as a witch, complete with black and candy corn colored hat. The dog is sitting on its human's lap and looks like it's smiling with its tongue out.]
[Image Description: A photo of a sandy-colored dog with curly fur dressed as a lion. The dog does not look pleased. lol]
[Image Description: A photo of a small, wiry furred, brown dog wearing a black and yellow Batman outfit with a tutu. It's sniffing at a treat on the ground.]
And of course, no trip to a park is complete for me without some photos of the floral and botanical life in it, so here are some shots of the gorgeous flowers I saw on my way out and couldn't resist a couple of shots of. xD

So that was the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Costume Parade! Lots of cute and sweet furballs all around. It was a great experience. :] I hope you enjoyed this little treat! I'm getting excited-- Halloween's only two days away! :D
Until next time, fair Readers!

I love all of your photos of the Tompkins Square Dog Halloween Parade! I think they are the best I've ever seen! I especially thank you for the beautiful photo of my Pomeranian, Lalka. She is the Pom who is nose to nose with another Pom. She has the long hair, and the red & black hat and dress. She never looked better - you captured her essence!
