Hullo, lovely Readers!
So this last Saturday was my partner Ray's twenty-seventh birthday! :D We're pretty much the same age, which I like: he's got just a couple of months on me for my twenty-seventh birthday in January. That makes us both rabbits in the Chinese astrology cycle. ;] (heh I have a dirty mind, so this always cracks me up that we're both rabbits. xD ha ha)
Ahhhh, it's so interesting to see how life progresses as we age. We're both getting creakier with age, and we both seem to prefer staying in to going out the majority of the time now. We have our own little routine, and we know what each other is thinking with just a look or a smile half the time. We've been together for nearly five years now, and I couldn't ask for someone better. He makes me so happy, and he's such a great guy. :]
Each year, I have such a hard time deciding what to get for him for his birthday because there aren't many things he wants, and the ones he does want are usually out of my price range (like computer parts and such xD), so this year, I decided to get him a bag full of Kit Kats, his favorite candy!
And a surprise birthday party to go with it. ;D ha ha
This was my first time throwing a surprise party for anyone, much less for someone who guesses every single year AT LEAST one or two of the gifts I get for him. ha ha So this was pretty cool. :] I invited a bunch of our old friends from a muay thai group we trained with to come over since we rarely all get together anymore. Our lives have just become so busy and very different. But they all seemed eager to come over, so I was glad about that. :]
I made Ray homemade lasagna (which is a big deal because I hate lasagna and have never made it before, even though he loves it xD), mashed potatoes, and green peas, along with chocolate fudge cupcakes. Our friends brought over hummus, pita chips, cha siew, and mini cupcakes from Baked by Melissa. And balloons!
We had a great time. Ray was completely surprised (success!) to find a bunch of people in his bedroom yelling, "Surprise!" and tooting on those little noise blowers. His reaction was funny, though-- his face barely changed! xD But later he said he was shocked, so that's a job well done by all. :] Then we all hung out eating food, catching up on life, and sharing old photos. It was a great night. :]
Unfortunately, I was so tired from all the preparations (and I was ill, too) that I totally forgot to take photos!! D: Bad Jessi. So I can't show you those, but I CAN share some photos with you of the next day (Sunday) when we went to the park for a walk with Tabitha, his family Yorkie and the bestest little sweetheart around. :] Sound like a deal? :D
We walked over to his mom's house where Tabitha lives, stuffed her in her little doggy coat since it was windy and chilly, and headed out to the park!

The trees around our neighborhood are starting to look quite lovely, especially the birch trees (one of my favorite trees). :]

Her poor little foot kept getting stuck in the coat, so we just took it off and bundled her up against the wind for a bit until we got out to the park and into the sun, and Ray snapped a few quick photos of us with Tabitha wriggling around in my sweater. :]

Yay! Made it to the park and some sun! :] She also made a new friend-- well, sort of. Tabs is pretty shy and skittish around most dogs. This other Yorkie, Toby, was a five month old, so he didn't make her as jittery as she normally gets, though. :] He seemed like a sweetie.

Of course, it wouldn't be a proper trip to the park without some mischievous squirrels teasing Tabs. xD This one teased her quite a bit and seemed to thoroughly enjoy it! xD It was pretty cute to watch. :]

And then there was this one-- Ray got quite a trip around the tree for this squirrel! xD And I got some pretty cute photos of it peeping out of its hidey hole. :]
[Image Description: A compilation of two photos side-by-side of a hidey hole in a tree. In the left, the hidey hole is dark and appears empty; in the right, there is a gray squirrel peering out slightly from the hidey hole.]
And then it was time to go-- we had a birthday dinner for Ray and his older brother (they share a birthday!) that night to get to, and by this time, we were all quite chilled, so we took one last turn around the park, I snapped a few more photos, and then we headed home. :]

This is the view I normally have of Tabs when we all walk together-- a blurry ball of happy fuzz with a lolling tongue jumping up my leg-- she usually would rather be carried on her walks than to actually walk. xD heh heh We make her walk for the most part so she gets some exercise, but at this point we were done, and she was shivering, so I bundled her up again in my sweater and scarf. :]
[Image Description: A photo from above of Tabitha, a Yorkie, with her tongue out and a smile on with her ears up and one forepaw lifted on my leg.]
A final photo of the park. It was so very pretty with that nice sunset. :]

And then we went to dinner and headed home to recuperate from our busy weekend for a few hours before Monday! :] It was very lovely.
Hope you all had a beautiful autumn weekend and have an even better week-- not too long now before Halloween! :D
Until next time, fair Readers!
